Rev. David Peterson
Senior Pastor

Rev. David P. Peterson is an ordained pastor and board-certified chaplain with over thirty years of experience in ministry to congregations and chaplaincy experience in hospitals, fire/EMS, police, and hospice. He is also president and publisher of Wave Dancer Media, LLC, sharing stories of resilient living.

​

Rev. Peterson was president and founder of Shepherd’s Staff Pastoral Services, providing spiritual care to thousands on a national level. Rev. Peterson is a Master of Divinity graduate of the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Arden, and their four sons and families, as well as Daisy, their golden retriever, reside in the area of Chesapeake, Virginia. Pastor Dave is a passionate worshiper of Jesus and a lover of fishing and all things smoked and grilled.

Meet Our Council Members And Their Ministry Assignments

President: Robin Delloro (Discipleship & Prayer)

The Christian Education ministry emphasizes and promotes the importance of life-long Christian education in maturing the faith walk of those in this congregation and those whose lives they touch. Through teaching, programs, and resources, members are encouraged to grow in their understanding of Scripture and live out their faith daily.

The Prayer ministry keeps before the Apostles family the profound importance of prayer in the life of this congregation and its community. It explores and implements regular corporate and private prayer opportunities, such as prayer vigils, intercessory prayer teams, and a formal church prayer line, nurturing a deeper connection with God and one another.

 

Vice President: Cody Baker (Stewardship)

Leads the Stewardship ministry, emphasizing and promoting the importance of faithful and generous use of God’s gifts—time, talents, and treasures—in maturing the faith walk of those in this congregation and supporting the mission and ministries that touch the lives of others.

Melinda Lockhart (Treasury)

Provides oversight for expenses, supplies, and budget needs to support the administrative functions of the church.

 

Becky Wittman (Secretary)

The Secretary supports the life of the congregation by keeping accurate records of meetings, maintaining important church documents, and assisting with communication and organization for the leadership team. This role ensures that the work of the church runs smoothly and that decisions and activities are clearly documented for the benefit of the congregation.

Heather Pinkerton (Evangelism)

Joyfully shares the good news of the sovereign love of God calling people to repentance, to personal faith in Jesus Christ, to active membership in the church, and to obedient service in the world. Keeps the importance of a faithful life of stewardship before the eyes and hearts of this congregation by continually educating the membership on the meaning of stewardship and also conducting efforts to promote stewardship by enlisting a commitment of talents, time, work, intellect, service, and money.

 

Marian Barkow (In Reach/Out Reach)

Maintains the profound importance of fellowship through planning social gathering experiences for the members of this congregation. Keeps the fundamental mission given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ to share the Gospel with all people.  She will explore regular and systematic opportunities in which our Apostles family can be actively involved in sharing the Good News with the unchurched of our community.

 

Phil Fuller (Property)

Maintains the facilities and equipment of this congregation.

 

Matthew Farquhar (Worship)

Oversees activities in the conduct of worship of this congregation; including music activities, altar guild, usher duties, acolytes, lay readers, and greeters.

 

Gina Smith (Youth)

Develops, implements, and monitors programs that assist the development of the spiritual and social needs of the youth of our Apostles family.
